As I make the final edits on my soon-to-be launched ebook, Confidently Connected: A Stay-at-Home Mom’s Guide to a Satisfying Social Life (coming in February!) I’m pulling together a list of favorite movies about how our friendships positively impact our emotional well-being. Close friends have the powerful effect of creating a buffer as we work to manage situations in our lives that are anxiety-provoking, stressful and, sometimes, just plain depressing.
Movies can be cathartic to watch, don’t you think? Much like an inspiring book, they can leave us reflecting on the beauty of the positive relationships in our own lives.
Here are a few I have so far. What are your favorites?
Beaches (1988)
Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood (2002) (based on the novel by Rebecca Wells)
Fried Green Tomatoes (1991)
Steel Magnolias (1989)
Thelma and Louise(1991)
The First Wives Club (1996)
The Help (2011) (based on the novel by Kathryn Stockett)
Waiting to Exhale (1995) (based on the novel by Terry McMillan)
When Harry Met Sally (1989)

Black Hawk Down (2001, based on the book by Mark Bowden)
Good one, Pete. I wouldn’t have thought of that one, but that’s a good pick. (My selections are pretty girly!)
